Florentine Angel 12" X 13" Th red /rust color makes this fun to hang up at Christmas too. This is a closed series as this fabric is no longer available and has been used up. The centers had to be very carefully cut in an elliptical shape to preserve the outline of the angels. This unusual fabric was designed by Peggy Toole for Kaufman It is from the Florentine II line, arts floral spring. The colors are very rich on a black background giving a tapestry effect and the printing is unusually precise. There is gold edging throughout which adds beauty. Decorative stitching around the center inset create a loft that adds to the movement of the angel flying out of the picture. The angels are reverse appliqued in an asymetrical circular setting to create foreground and background. Cross stitch edging on 2 borders adds to the complexity of the frame. There is a polar dowel wrapped in lions brand Homespun yarn for hanging. These wall hangings are quilted with mountain mist 100% polyester batting to give depth and so they can also be used as mini “bulletin boards” to attach photos, notes, jewelry, and special keepsakes with a straight or safety pin There are 3 different angels and therefore 3 series with different designs and borders. Series of 3 - Rust//gold overall - Green angel rising-. This has a bali batik multi toned apricot setting which is edged in a band of visually prominent decorative stitch. The next 2 borders use gilded ornate floral edging cuts from renaissance type fabrics. One has a very narrow ‘ribbon’ border which picks up the greens in the angel and flowers.
