About Kaleidescope Quilts
Kaleidescope quilts are created by cutting repeating pie shaped wedges of a fabric design and sewing them back together in a mandala shape. You cannot predict how each square will come out. They are all very different depending on how the cuts are made. Only selected fabrics work well to create kaleidescopes. Kaleidescope quilts have a unique look when hung with direct light from behind, like in a window. The centers have a rich glow due to the jewel tone colors. I have shown them with light from behind and in natural sunlight so you can see them both ways. The centers of each quilt are totally one of a kind.
