Butterscotch/ Raspberry 8 Pointed Star

butterscotch/raspberry 8 pointed star This quilt is multitextured using cotton broadcloth, flannel, rayon, cotton knit, and cotton waffle weave. There are many fabrics used including bali batiks by Hoffmann and fossil ferns by Benartex in raspberry slush, watermelon and nectarine cotton and peach flannel. The combination of buttery yellows and shades of rose and salmon in the 8 pointed stars are very soft and subtle. Each block uses a fabric that has nectarine leaves against a yellow background in the points of all the stars unify the varied shades in each star corner and insets. This focus fabric is repeated in the 3rd border. The strong saturated tone of the raspberry slush border and the lively 2 inch edging border contain the soft interior with brightness. I love the combination of colors in this quilt and the asymetrical variation of the centers of the 8 pointed stars creates unique design. This quilt creates a secondary design of the corner blocks as a visual 4 patch in peaches. This quilt is machine stitched using the stitch in the ditch pattern. The backing is 200 count natural muslin by Moda. 2 in the series, not identical centers, borders are the same. #1 57" x 57" #2 56" x 58"
