Materials

Most of the fabric in my work is high quality so the color will stay vibrant with many washings and years of use. I like using jewel colors offset by pastels. I use fabric lines made by Hoffman, Moda, Benartex,Jinny Beyer, RJR Fabrics, Clothworks, Kona, Paula Nadelstern, bali batiks and many others. I love Fossil Fern multi tone solids, they are incredibly soft. A lot of my fabric is from Hancocksof Paducak in Kentucky and the Cotton Club in Boise, Idaho. All fabrics are 100% cotton unless otherwise stated.

I consider softness to be a major factor in choosing fabric, especially for backing and quilt edges. I often use flannel or extra soft fabric for outside borders so they will be soft for snuggling. All muslin backing is 200 count, usually by Moda. All fabric has been prewashed to remove sizing or scents. All finished products have been washed in unscented detergent in very hot water so they are preshrunk both before and after construction. All batting is mountain mist 100% polyester that has been aired out in the sun. Wooden dowels are unfinished birch, They are covered in Lions Brand homespun yarn. Elmers non toxic white glue is used at the ends to prevent unraveling. Threads are generally Coats and Clarks dual duty plus or hand quilting cotton. Multi colored thread used for decorative stitching is Signature brand.
