Blueberry Jam And Shibori In Purple

blueberry jam and shibori in purple This is a favorite. The center is blueberry jam flannel by fossil fern for benartex and is a beautiful design of violet/true purple and maroonish/purple gradiations. It is bordered very narrowly by flannel in plum by Tokoyo for red rooster. The outer borders are purple shibori by Paula Nadelstern. She designed a shibori fabric which is among the softest I have ever felt. Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique that creates accordion folds of color. Her shibori fabric is no longer made so I only use it in special projects. I used her purple shibori cut on the perpendicular for one layer and cut on the selvage for the other. This fabric has incredible color waves and it picks up the shades of the center. Though simple in design, this piece uses the fabrics to create light and dark movement with solids. There is decorative geometric double cross stitch on 2 sides.
